For Men 3 black tie dress code mistakes to avoid

Along with the award season comes the black tie dress code for both men and women. While women have it sorted out with the variety of gowns, men have a specific kind of look for such events and it is  important to do it right.

There are so many tips on what pieces to get for a black tie event and how to wear them appropriately such that you look irresistible. However, there aren’t enough tips on what to totally avoid in putting a black tie look together. Here are 3 tips on what to avoid in dressing for a black tie event:

Black tie not formal: No matter what you do, do not put on a regular suit and a tie to a black tie event. The black tie is one of the most specific dress codes in history. You either abide by it with a tuxedo and a bow tie or stay home. FYI, you could get your tux look from cheaper stores like H&M.

Not the patterned blazer: The idea of being sophisticated when it comes to menswear for black tie events is to be minimal and simple while looking classic, so to that effect, ditch the multi color patterned tuxedo blazer at home and settle for black or midnight blue.

Keep it simple: Every fashion conscious person will tell you there is great reward in paying attention to the little details and as much as I agree with that, I will implore you to not pay so much attention that you over embellish. Anymore than 3 accessories may be too much for a black tie look.

Watch out for these important steps and let us know how they work for you at your next black tie event.
