Billionaire Businessman’s Aide Killed By Unidentified Gunmen

Prince Arthur Eze

An aide to billionaire businessman, oil tycoon, politician and philanthropist, Prince Arthur Eze has allegedly been killed by unidentified gunmen.

The incident which took place on Saturday, November 26th, at about 11.00 pm. at Umudunu village, Abagana, in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State, left some other persons at the scene with varying degrees of injuries.

The remains of the deceased identified as Chinenye Ikedimma, has been deposited at Bekee Hospital’s mortuary, Nimo, also in Njikoka.

Some of the villagers suspect the murder could be connected with the ongoing land dispute between Abagana and Ukpo communities which had claimed many lives and property.

One of the villagers said:

“Abagana people believe that our people working with Arthur Eze who hails from Ukpo and other prominent persons in that community might be giving them information on the plans Abagana people have on their ongoing tussle with Ukpo over a piece of land. So the option, as being speculated, was to ‘address’ their matter one by one.”

One of the casualties from the incident, Mr. Kenneth Ajaegbo, speaking from his hospital bed at Okpala Hospital, Enugwu-Ukwu, said he was on his way home when the gunmen attacked him.

Narrating further, he said;

“I ran home immediately they shot at me. It was when I got home that I discovered that I was shot at the knee. Blood was everywhere. My brother and I went to the Police station immediately to give a report before coming to this hospital. It was at the police station that we learned that the aide to Prince Arthur Eze was shot dead.”

Enugu State

Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Commissioner, Mr. Sam Okaula, said the killing is not connected to the communal crisis, but an isolated case.

He said “It is a case of murder somewhere in the village. One person was also injured. My Area Commander has visited him in the hospital. Maybe he had some issues with somebody or so, but the police are on it and must smoke out the culprits.”

As at the time of this report, no arrests had been made.
