He said no amount of resistance and intimidation by miscreants could make the state government go back on its resolve to clean up the entire marina axis.

He decried the nuisance constituted by the activities of mechanics and road side automobile engineers, especially those operating indiscriminately under the bridges, open spaces, walkways and roads which are not in line with the clean up initiatives of the state government.

“We seek total compliance to this directives given to mechanics to vacate as there is no place for roadside mechanics, street trading, illegal shanties in the Marina Axis” Dabiri warned.

The Special Adviser reiterated the determination of the present administration led by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to restore the original plan of Marina and its adjourning axis by checking the activities of street traders, mechanics, road side automobile repairers who have converted spaces under the bridges, walkways and roads to their workshops.

He said “Lagos State Government has observed with dismay the gross abuse of environment laws and urban planning by the roadside automobile engineers, mechanics and street traders on the Island.
The environmental abuse thriving in these illegal mechanic garages can no longer be tolerated which necessitated the decision to check their illegalities”.
