2019: God preserved President Buhari for a purpose - Governor Bello

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello on Tuesday, January 23, said that President Muhammadu Buhari would win the 2019 presidential election despite opposition from some quarters. He stated this in reaction to Obasanjo's letter. 2019:

- Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has lampooned critics of President Muhammadu Buhari

- The Kogi state governor says they do not have the ultimate power to stop the president in 2019 general elections

- Bello expressed confidence that President Buhari would secure another mandate

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, on Tuesday, January 23, said President Muhammadu Buhari would win the 2019 presidential election despite opposition from some quarters, Daily Independent reports.

We gathered that Bello while unveiling infrastructural expo held at the Lokoja township stadium to mark the second year anniversary of his administration, said he was surprised that Buhari's critics were deploying all means to bring back Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to governance. He added that they were all bound to fail.

Bello stated this in reaction to former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter where he asked President Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019.

He said: “God who made Mr. President to pass through the valley of death preserved him for a purpose. The confidence is certain that President Buhari would secure another mandate in view of his purposeful leadership.

“Mr. President is just close to three years and his opponents are running helter-skelter, because they cannot tolerate him for eight years. By the time President Buhari completes his two terms in office, his opponents would be in political wilderness.

“President Buhari is doing well in his best in the fight against corruption, insurgency as well as improvement in the economy. The foreign reserve has been bolstered significantly compared to what was in place before he came on board in 2015.

“Mr. President is boiling them with cold water, suffocating them because they cannot stomach him for eight years, that is why they are crying foul. When the time comes they will know that majority of the people of this country are solidly behind him. So those who are against the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari cannot stop him."

Bello further opined that God had endorsed Buhari to serve his constitutional two terms, and so, does not need the support of anyone to achieve that feat, “Those who ran the country aground are desperately seeking relevance, trying to play God.

“No amount of intimidation, media manipulation and campaign of calumny can compel Mr. President to abandon his avowed commitment to put the country on the path of greatness, neither can the current efforts at retrieving all the stolen monies from the nation’s coffers cannot be abandoned because of some selfish individuals."

The governor said the same PDP that ruined Nigeria's economy wants to come back to power again.

"President Buhari has poured cold water on them and they are sweating profusely because they cannot contain the remaining six years of his administration.

“By 2019 we are going to change all of them and bring credible people to represent us, for over two years they have been there what project did they influence to the state? They are doing nothing and only prefer to criticise the good works we are doing,” he added.

We previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had been urged by the Nasarawa state chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) to ignore the advise given by ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo that he should not re-contest.

According to Daily Trust, the group made its comments on Wednesday, January 24, via its Nasarawa state chairman, Muhammed Hussaini.
