Shortly after the meeting began, journalists and lower ranks who accompanied the police boss were dismissed from the venue of the meeting.

We had reported that the upper chamber on Wednesday, January 31, summoned Ibrahim Idris, over what it described as failure to comply with its resolution to arrest those behind the Benue killings.

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, had said there was need for security agencies to take seriously ultimatums given by the upper chamber.

He insisted that lawmakers will not sweep the Benue killings under the carpet and will ensure that people are made to account over such issues.

Meanwhile, Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has alleged that some persons are planning to attack the state in ten days.

The Punch reports that the governor raised this allegation on Thursday, February 1 when he received members of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party who paid him a sympathy visit on the death of a member of the state House of Assembly, Hosea Ibi.

He said the information has been passed to security operatives but claimed no move has been made to handle the situation.
