Cross River state governor Ben Ayade has said that the state has benefitted much more under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The governor who stated this in Calabar said that though the president is a Muslim and from the north of the country, he has shown practical interest in Cross River which is governed by a PDP governor, Daily Trust reports.

We gathered that Ayade said that the state got key federal appointments courtesy of President Buhari.

The governor said: “Never in the history of Nigerian politics has Cross River state benefited this much from the gale of appointments that have come to us. Head of service of the federation, auditor general of the federation, federal permanent secretary (information), chairman NDDC.

"We also have minister of Niger Delta, chief of naval staff, chief justice of Nigeria, the list is endless. We have never had it this good.

“The president is from the northern part of Nigeria while Cross River is in the south. This is a president who is an APC member while Cross River is a PDP state.

"This is a man who did not look at all biases and made a choice of Cross River state as the first state to perform his first working visit; this is unprecedented."

According to Ayade, Nigerians should work with full loyalty and support for Mr President to continue to do the good job he is doing.

He added: “You have an opportunity to reduce hunger; we cannot leave it for the president alone. The pressure he’s come under is occasioned by the poverty in the land."

Meanwhile, We previously reported that the Cross River state governor Ben Ayade was petitioned by Barrister Okoi Obono Obla, the senior special adviser to president Muhammadu Buhari on prosecution, over the activities of cultists in his village.

Obla addressed the petition to the governor, while also copying Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the office of the national security adviser; the State Security Services HQ, and the Cross River state police command.

The presidential aide called on the governor to put together a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the spate of violence and cult activities which had led to murders in various areas of the state.
