Chief Edwin Clark has lashed out at former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for the formation of a Movement for the Coalition of Nigeria describing it as a deceitful move.

The former president in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari had criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.

He also urged President Buhari not to contest in the 2019 elections and said the establishment of a coalition would allow the citizens take power back.

The Nation reports that Clark said while the message was good, the idea of a coalition championed by the former president was wrong.

The Niger Delta chieftain said there was nothing Obasanjo had to offer Nigerians again.

He said:“While we accept part of Obasanjo’s message, as far as it concerns the state of the nation, one won’t accept Obasanjo, the messenger, because it’s all pretence.

“For him to say he’s going to champion the movement, he’s a failure already.

“There’s nothing Obasanjo has to offer to Nigerians. He was the president of this country for eight years.

“He was military head of state for about three years. As a civilian president, he created corruption in Nigeria; he legalised corruption in Nigeria.

“He’s just pretending. I wonder how Obasanjo would help with the new leadership. Nigerians should not follow him.

“Who are they deceiving in Nigeria?

“Let the message be a lesson for the APC, PDP and other Nigerians.

“There are many other parties in Nigeria. We have over 68 parties in Nigeria. We don’t need any political force or a new party championed by Obasanjo.

“It’s a deceit; it’s an insult to the people of Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, joined other politicians to react to the controversial letter by Obasanjo asking President Buhari not to run for second term in office.

Oshiomhole said the former president is not one of the adviser of the president and is in no position to dish our advice.

The former governor made this statement on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents shortly after a closed doors meeting the president, The Punch reports.

Oshiomhole said: “I’m not sure when I see the list of the (President’s) advisers, that President Obasanjo is one of the advisers.
