Ojukwu jnr has no electoral value in S/East or elsewhere - Obiano’s aide declares

An aide to Governor Willie Obiano has stated that Emeka Ojukwu jnr, son of Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu has no electoral relevance in the South-east or anywhere else.

- Oliver Okpala, an aide to Governor Willie Obiano has stated that Emeka Ojukwu jnr, son of Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu has no electoral relevance in the South-east or anywhere else

- Okpala bashed Ojukwu jnr for towing a different path from his father and betraying Igbos by abandoning the party which the late Ikemba had founded

- He advised him to restrain from destroying the legacy of his late father, and to reach out to Igbo elders who would lecture him on the ways of Ikemba

Emeka Ojukwu jnr, son of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has been described as an inflated political balloon with no electoral value among In the South-east or anywhere else in the country, New Telegraph reports.

The assertion was made by Prince Oliver Okpala, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications to the Governor of Anambra state, in a statement which was made available to newsmen in Awka, the state capital.

We gather that the governor’s aide refuted Ojukwu’s jnr’s claims that he was being lobbied back to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the party his father founded, which he abandoned for the All Progressives Congress (APC), shortly before the recently-held Anambra gubernatorial elections.

Okpala stated that there were no grounds for Ojukwu jnr’s claims, as he wasn’t a party stakeholder.

He further berated him as having no pedigree, compared to his late father; and advised him to seek out Igbo elders to teach him about the ways of his father.

The statement read in part: “In fact nobody knew that Ojukwu jnr was a member of the party, so on what grounds was he relevant to the fold?

“It has also been affirmed that he is politically inconsequential without any base.

” It is now very clear from his actions that Ojukwu jnr cannot claim to have the same sound intellectual background or pedigree with the late Ikemba even though he is a direct sibling of the Ikemba.

“Though too many people have linked their paternity to the late Ikemba because of his greatness, only the late leader can say who is who.

“In his lifetime, the great Ikemba was the champion of the struggle for the rights and emancipation of his people, standing firm with his Igbo brothers and sisters, never betraying their cause.

“I wonder what the great Ikemba would be thinking when his supposed son openly denied the only political entity which he left for us the Igbos as a unifying political umbrella. Ojukwu would no doubt shudder in his grave.

‘From the statements and actions of Ojukwu jnr, it is now very clear that he did not quite grow under the guidance of the late Ikemba who as a senior military personnel respected constituted authorities and seniority despite his greatness and wisdom.

“How can a son of the Ikemba describe his elder and governor of his state as one playing juvenile and local politics?

"Is he aware that all the major political parties in the country were made up of sectional political organisations representing the interest of their people which they used as a bargaining instrument for the formation or integration into national political parties?

“Since the junior Ojukwu has remained as an infant without complete knowledge of the great philosophies of his late father, he should reach out to his elders to educate him properly on the outstanding qualities of the Ikemba so that he will quickly refrain from using mercantile politics in destroying the outstanding legacies his late father left for posterity.

“Ojukwu junior should as a matter of utmost urgency desist from using gutter language against Governor Obiano to avoid letting the world know about the questionable nature of his parental background and claim.

“Let sanity prevail and let there be political decorum. A word they say is enough for the wise. No one is interested in accepting and holding on to a political liability like Ojukwu junior. His sojourn to APC is indeed good riddance to bad rubbish.”

Recall that We previously reported that Emeka Ojukwu, the first son of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, stated that since Ndigbo supported former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, he cannot understand why they cannot accord President Muhammadu Buhari the same support.

While trying to end the controversy trailing his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he said that he was only following the footsteps of his late father.

Emeka jnr further said Governor Willie Obiano’s overtures to him to return to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) smacked of ignorance about the workings of politics in Nigeria.
