Breaking: Northern Governors’ Forum visits Ortom over Benue attacks (photos)

Members of the Northern Governors' Forum (NGF) on Friday, January 19, visited the governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, over the recent killings in the state.
The governors led by the governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima, met with Ortom to sympathise with him on the killing of over 70 people in the state by some suspected herdsmen.
Shettima who visited alongside Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai; his Plateau counterpart, Simon Lalong and the Jigawa state governor, Abubakar Badaru were in Makurdi to also show solidarity with Ortom and the people of Benue state.

Also on the entourage is the deputy governor of Osun state, Grace Tomori.
We earlier reported that a senior lawyer had explained the legal implication of declaring a state of emergency in Benue state.
Sebastine Hon said the president lacked the powers to remove the Benue state governor Samuel Ortom.

He said speculations on such declaration by the presidency would be legally baseless.
