APC receives harvest of defectors in Rivers

All Progressives Congress, APC, in Degema LGA says it has been receiving a large harvest of defectors from other political parties into its fold since the Court of Appeal quashed the mandates of Governor Nyesom Wike and all the members of the National Assembly on the platform of the rival political parties in the state.

The former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Otelemaba Dan Amachree disclosed this during the registration and revalidation exercise in Ward 14 Obuama in Degema Local Government.

He assured those that decamped of equal playing ground.
Two Kalabari leaders Opaks Jim Harry and Buru Alubo defected to the APC at the event.

The Youth Leader in Degema Ward 14 Dandison Rowland reiterated his commitment to ensure that the APC succeeds in the area.

Some dignitaries who graced the occasion include leaders of the APC in Ward 14 Obuama, former Commissioner of Employment and Empowerment Generation Dr Ipalibo Harry, former Local Government Chairmen and women groups.

However, in another development, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Prince Uche Secondus, has condemned the recent comment by the National Chairman of the APC John Odigie-Oyegun, that APC will comfortably win Akwa Ibom State’s rerun election.

APC National Chairman who had stated this while reacting to the Appeal Court judgment on the Rivers State Governorship Petition, said he is more confident and certain that APC will win Akwa-Ibom State than any other state in the South-South.

The Acting PDP National Chairman described the comment as unfortunate and disappointing.

Secondus in a statement said the comment of John Oyegun shows the desperation by the APC and the Presidency to forcefully take over PDP states in the South-South zone.
He alleged that the comment of the APC National Chairman has exposed the APC-led Federal Government’s connivance with some officials of the judiciary to take over all PDP states and silence the voice of the opposition in the country.

Appeal Court sacked the Governor of Rivers, the three Senators all members of the House of Representatives, except one, while the fate of 22 members of Rivers State House of Assembly is still hanging in the balance.
