Kogi Election Court to decide today

The selection of Yahaya Bello, as the APC Governorship candidate in the upcoming supplementary election did not go down well with some party members.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja will today, Friday, December 4, 2015, announce his verdict on the Kogi election.

According to Vanguard Newspapers, Justice Kolawole combined all the suits pertaining to the Kogi election, before him.

The Judge said "there was need for the court to expeditiously determine the issues, so that INEC will not conduct the election under a grave shadow of doubt as to the legal or constitutional validity."

The suits that were merged came from:

Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada.

The Governorship candidate of the People for Democratic Change (PDC), in the state, Emmanuel Daikwo.
A lawyer, Mr. Johnson Usman.

A House of Representatives member for Ahiazu Ezinaehitte Mbaise Federal Constituency of Imo State, Rafael Igbokwe.

The decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), allowing the All Progressives Congress (APC), to choose a new Gubernatorial candidate for the elections coming up on Saturday, December 5, 2015, has sparked a lot of reactions.

The selection of Yahaya Bello, as the APC Governorship candidate in the upcoming supplementary election did not go down well with some party members.

You will recall that James Faleke, the running mate to the late Abubakar Audu, who participated in the November 21, 2015 Kogi governorship election, rejected APC’s decision to field Bello.

Prince Abubakar Audu died moments after INEC declared that the elections in Kogi were inconclusive.
