KOGI: Wada Sets Up Transition Committee

Governor Idris Wada

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi state, has come up with a transition committee in order to hand over to a new administration.

Leadership reports that the transition committee which is headed by the secretary to the state government, Professor Olugbemiro Jegede, will be in charge of the process of a successful handover to a new administration in the state come January 27, 2016.

According to the governor, the transition committee will work hand-in-hand alongside a similar committee from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to ensure a smooth transition of power. Aside from that, he has also set up a steering committee which the proposed head will be the deputy governor, Yomi Awoniyi.

The two committees which are expected to put the performance of the administration in clear perspectives before the handover date are to be inaugurated today, December 10.

It will be recalled that Alhaji Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner of the Kogi state supplementary election held on Saturday, December 5.

Meanwhile, the PDP has rejected the results of the Kogi governorship supplementary election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday, December 6.

Speaking through its agent, Captain Joe Agada at the headquarters of the INEC in Lokoja, the party condemned the exercise, describing it as a “kangaroo election”.
