Shoppers flee as an officer retrieves terrifying weapon Twitter
TERRIFIED bargain-hunters trampled on kids as they fled for their lives during a machete brawl at a crowded shopping centre.
Shoppers stampeded for the exit amid fears of an IS terror attack at the Boxing Day sales as the 2ft blade was spotted during a fight between youths.
Dramatic footage was posted on Twitter and witnesses told of panic.
A youth who suffered a minor head wound during the brawl at the Intu mall in Bromley, South East London, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possessing an offensive weapon.
Cops have denied any terror link. They said the machete and another knife were recovered at the scene and they were hunting six youths.
Officers were seen putting the rusty machete into the back of a police van after the 3.45pm incident outside an Aldo shoe shop.
Music producer Ryan Louder wrote on Facebook that he saw “hundreds of people panicking and running out of the shopping centre”.
He said staff in the Apple store were telling people: “Get into the back!” He added: “The back had no exit and we were essentially sitting ducks to what we all thought was a terrorist attack.
“That experience won’t leave me quickly unfortunately.”
One woman called Marina who rang LBC radio station said: “We were in the Disney store. We heard the people screaming, running and shouting.
“We got trampled on. My children got trampled on. We were just really scared. We were running for our lives.
“We had to go out of the back of the stock room in the Disney store. Then we came to a dead end and there was no way out.”
She said they were eventually taken into another stockroom and out to the main car park.
