The former Nigeria Permanent Representative to the United, Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari has urged the federal government to exploit the potentials of Nigerians in diaspora whom he said were more willing to contribute to National development but only waiting for the enabling environment.
Speaking at the group's Global Best Practice Forum/Award conferred on some Nigerian who had distinguished themselves in their respective positions organised by the Association of Nigerian-American Professionals (ANAPIN), Amb Gambari stated that Nigerians in diaspora constituted a significant resource base that the country could harness in the quest to build the nation.
The President of the organisation, Mazi Emmanuel Okoro, who described the number of unemployed as worrisome, said it was concerned by the situation and ready to partner with the federal government to drive the current administration's change agenda.
He said, "Africa in diaspora in the United State contribute 40 times more in American economy than to Africa economy."
"The diaspora represents an incredible human resource, expertise, knowledge, experience that can be deployed effectively for sustainable national development," he noted.
