Resisted rape attempt, Nigerian couple arrested
A Nigerian couple along with two others were arrested on Sunday for injecting drugs into the body of a woman which lead to her death. She had opposed a rape bid by three men at the residence of the couple.
The 25-year-old victim, along with her friend went to the residence of a Nigerian couple in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar to consume drugs.
On Sunday, the victim’s friend made a call to police that she had been murdered. She informed them that they both were drug addicts and used to visit the home of a Nigerian couple, Uche and Ceathi, for this.
On late Saturday night, they went to their house and consumed drugs. Later two friends of Uche, identified as Annu and Kannu also joined them.
“All the three men tried to sexually assault both the girls but when they resisted, they both were injected with some unknown drug by Annu, Kannu and Uche.
The victim was allegedly given two injections which resulted in overdose of the drug and later she died,” she told police.
“Immediately, a team was constituted and the dead body was recovered from Madhu
Vihar area.
During the joint operation Uche and Ceathi were arrested from Dwarka Mod area while Annu and Kannu were arrested from Fatehabad in Haryana,” R A Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) said.
Sanjeev added that the criminals had confessed that they had given overdose of drugs to the woman when she resisted the sexual assault on her.
The overdose resulted in death and they disposed of the body to eliminate the evidence. The body was carried on a scooter but the victim’s mobile was retained by them.
The couple came to India in 2010 on the pretext of garment business.
After staying for some time in Mumbai, they came to Delhi and stayed in Mohan Garden, Bindapur and Nawada area.
Addicted to drugs, they also started organising drug parties. They also visited several clubs and pubs in Delhi-National Capital Region.
“The investigation ascertained that Nigerian nationals, Uche and Ceathi, came to India in 2010 for some garment business but their visa had expired. The investigation is being carried out to ascertain the source of the drugs,” Sanjeev added.
