Police secure Assakio Central Mosque to maintain peace

The appearance of crucifix around a mosque in Nasarawa attracts crowd

– The police was deployed to maintain peace and urged people to live in harmony

– People were urged not to allow the presence of the crucifix cause controversy Police have been deployed to secure the Assakio Central Mosque in Nasarawa state following the discovery the image of cross in the religious premise.

The appearance of the crucifix in the vicinity of the mosque left the people in awe as hundreds of people from the area and neighboring places trooped to the place for deliverance.  The cross which is the considered the symbol of Christianity was illuminated on the ground close to the mosque.

Hajara Hussaini confirmed that she was the first to see the light in the shape of a cross on Wednesday, September 28 when her mother sent her on errand. Her mother, Matan Liman also confirmed the strange appearance and said her daughter was gripped in fear when she returned.

Today reports that Mr. Abubakar Bello who is the state commissioner of police visited the scene of the strange sighting and revealed the deployment of security officials. Bello also visited the house of HRM Osula Inarigu who is the paramount ruler in the town. He advised the people to try to live in peace with each other as that would bring development.

The police chief said the appearance of the cross should not lead to controversy in the area which was why security had been beefed-up. Inarigu also advised the people to live in harmony irrespective of their religious differences.

Some Nigerians have interpreted the reports of the mysterious sighting to mean the supremacy of one religion above the other. However, others have doubted the credibility of the appearance of the strange cross, describing it as a fraud.

Similarly, hundreds of people trooped to Saint Augustine’s Catholic Church which is located in the Nenger area of Makurdi in Benue following the “appearance” of an ‘image’ of Jesus.

The church which is situated behind Government Model College became a hub for Catholic and non-Catholic worshipers after bright image fell on the crucifix of Jesus.
