Ali Modu-Sheriff's aide was arrested on Tuesday, January 17
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the immediate release of Inuwa Bwala, a media aide to its factional leader Ali Modu-Sheriff.
The party through its national legal adviser Bashir Maidugu said the arrest and continued detention of Bwala is condemnable.
Maidugu also said Bwala's arrest was unwarranted and an infringement on the freedom of press as enshrined in the constitution.

Bwala was arrested on Tuesday, January 17, with his driver at his office in Garki area of Abuja by security operatives.
According to Maidugu, Bwala and his driver were first taken to Special Anti-Robbery Squad detention centre in Abuja before they were moved to Maiduguri on Wednesday, January 18.
The duo have since remained in detention, Maidugu said.
He added that: "Since then, he has been detained without trial."
"We call on the authorities to charge him to court or grant him bail and follow the due process of law if he is alleged to have committed any offence."
Maidugu said the PDP is worried over the breach of Bwala fundamental rights by security operatives.
"Social justice and civil liberties are fundamental human rights, and not at the discretion of the state.
"It is in this regard that we call on those holding him illegally to immediately release him to his family and refrain from using federal institutions as a tool for vendetta and mischief," he said.
