The trial of a fake lawyer, Olamide Oyekola Yunusa has been concluded at the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
At the resumption of his trial today, Olamide changed his plea and pleaded guilty to the seven-count charge preferred against him.

He was convicted and sentenced to six months in prison. The sentence was imposed by the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Abimbola Oshodi-Makanjuola of Magistrate Court 4, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The convict had orchestrated a rouse where he created a public image purporting himself to have been called to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He was successful in defrauding three unsuspecting victims of a significant amount of money prior to his arraignment on October 25, 2016 and had managed to practice at the court for over a year without being noticed.
Luck, however, ran out on Olamide-the convict- on October 20, 2016 when he appeared as a “lawyer” before a Magistrate in whose name he had clandestinely obtained money from litigants.
Upon interrogation by the Magistrate in the court, the convict admitted to have swindled unsuspecting litigants and was referred to the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikorodu Branch for the verification of his status as a lawyer.

After running background checks at the Secretariat of the Ikorodu branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Vice Chairman of the branch Prince AB Ladega who doubles as the Chairman of the Pro Bono and Human Rights Committee found out that Olamide was not a qualified lawyer and not fit to handle any case.
The Ikorodu branch of the Nigerian Bar Association under the leadership of Levi C. Adikwaone (Esq.) wishes to reiterate its determination to purge the legal profession of charlatans and impostors.
