Aregbesola’s mum interred amidst tears in Ilesa

Burial of Gov Aregbesola’s mum at Ilesa.

The remains of Late Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola, the mother of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, was on Tuesday evening committed to mother earth in her residence, located at Ilofin, in Ilesa.

Political associates, aides and commissioners in the cabinet of Aregbesola all converged on Ilesa to witness the Muslim burial rites for the deceased.

Tribune Online reliably gathered that the burial was apparently delayed till around 5.15pm for Aregbesola to be in attendance because he was far away Kebbi State for All Progressive Congress (APC) governors’ meeting when his mother passed on.

Some of the siblings, who could not control their emotions burst into tears as the body of their mother and grandmother was being lowered into the grave.

In his short sermon during the burial, the Chief Imam of Osogboland, Sheik Musa Animasahun implored everybody, irrespective of religious background to strive and live an exemplary life, saying “we should all be interested in what people would say or their opinions after our sojourn on earth.”

Aregbesola, who looked calm and relaxed throughout the burial, was being consoled by some of the dignitaries, who thronged his family house to pay his mother their last respect.

Eminent dignitaries, who attended the burial include the deputy governor, Chief (Mrs) Titi Laoye Tomori, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Osun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa, former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, among others.
