Obiano’s commendation came on heels of a crucial parley between Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the leaders of one of the pro-Biafra groups,
Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), led by Comrade Uchenna Madu at the Ohanaeze secretariat,
Enugu.

But the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Political Affairs, Comrade Arinzechukwu Awogu who conveyed the governor’s commendation to Ohanaeze while addressing the national executive committee of Ohanaeze at its secretariat, stated that re-arresting Nnamdi Kanu would aggravate the already tensed security situation and inflame unnecessary passion.
Awogu, who is also the liaison officer of Anambra State on Biafran War Veterans told journalists after meeting with the Ohanaeze executive that his mission was to convey Governor Obiano’s position and to encourage the apex Igbo body on the herculean task of steering Igbo ship to safe dock and to pledge the governor’s support and cooperation.
“We are also happy with the position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo that Anambra Election must hold.
“Basically my address to them is in giving them the words of the Governor of Anambra state and then encouraging them and letting them to know that that this administration of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has not disappointed Ndigbo and we are happy with them and want them to
continue to very forcefully and strongly and also I realized that we must shake hands across the Niger,” he said.
Meanwhile, after a meeting, Ohanaeze leadership that lasted about three hours, the leader of MASSOB emerged to inform journalists that they had a successful meeting with father and their children, the first of its kind by any Ohanaeze leadership.
Although Ohanaeze declined to speak to the press about the outcome of the parley, Madu said, “They (Ohanaeze) believe in restructuring actually, we believe in self-determination, let every player play his own wing what we need is to score the goal.
We have to work like a team. We believe in Biafra, we want Biafra, they believe in restructuring of Nigeria to better Ndigbo in Nigeria but we want Biafra; but in the long run something must happen.
“Nothing can stop the agitation for Biafra, if they like let them restructure Nigeria, even if Buhari resigns today and Igbo man becomes the president the agitation continues.
“And I want to say it here that we are not non-violent, the Biafran security services established by IPOB is not a threat to Nigerian security. We have a Sharia security called Hisba in the northern Nigeria with their uniform armed; the Fulani herdsmen are also terrorists walking freely in our land killing people.
“For the past 18 years of the struggle there is no record of any agitator killing somebody. Even in the next one or ten years until when Biafra will be realized we will not kill anybody.

The thing is that the northern Nigeria are always jittery when we come together, when they see Ndigbo coming together, forming an alliance to work like a family, they become jittery and we will continue to come together.
Today can’t you see? The fathers and their children are coming together for the interest of Ndigbo and we will continue to gorge ahead,” he said. Ends
