Buhari to reveal his plans for 2019 as APC governors storm Daura

Ortom, Ambode, Amosun absent as APC governors storm Daura for Buhari visit

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to meet with All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in his home town in Daura, Katsina state in order to discuss his plans for 2019 whether to contest or not on Friday, February 16.

- APC governors will be meeting with President Buhari in his hometown in Katsina state

- Report has it that the president will tell them his plans for 2019

- Some APC governors have encouraged the president to seek re-election

Governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress governors stormed Daura ahead of the meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The governors are: Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Abdulfatai Ahmed of Kwara, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Yayaha Bello of Kogi state.

Others are: Tanko Almakura of Nasarwa, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo, Sani Bello of Niger, Godwin Obaseki of Edo.

Governors Samuel Ortom of Benue, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun were absent but were represented by their deputies.

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to meet with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in his home town in Daura, Katsina state in order to discuss his plans for 2019 on Friday, February 16.

Daily Trust reports that the president is expected to use the opportunity to tell the governors whether he would contest in 2019 or not.

It was reported that the president was supposed to meet with the governors at Aso Rock villa but chose to meet them to Daura after he went there following his visit to Kaduna.

Some governors have already urged President Buhari to seek re-election in 2019 and promised to support him if he does.

Former presidents, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, have asked Buhari not to re-contest for presidency in 2019.

A source said “very serious political developments,” would be discussed at the meeting.

The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, also confirmed Buhari’s meeting with the governors.

Meanwhile, President Buhari reiterated the commitment and firm resolve of his administration to take Nigeria to the next level of growth and development.

He made the resolve on Thursday, February 15, in Kaduna state when he inaugurated a new drone developed by the Nigeria Air Force for intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance.

The president said his administration was determined to overcome all challenges militating against the country’s security and development.

He therefore appealed to all Nigerians to support his administration to achieve its objective, the News Agency of Nigeria.
