Abia State’s first female high court judge in the old Imo and Abia states, Hon Justice (Mrs) Christiana Ijeoma Uche (Nee Ebbi of Okoko Item, Abia State), is dead.
A statement made available to our reporter Friday by the deceased son on behalf of the Uche family, Chief Chris Uche (SAN), said Hon Justice Christiana Uche, who led an exemplary and accomplished life, was a founding member of the National Association of Women Judges (NAWOJ) and a matron of the Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA).

The statement reads in part, “We, the Uche Family of Igbere in Abia State, with sadness but with gratitude to God for an exceptionally successful, accomplished, impactful and fulfilled life, hereby announce the peaceful passing unto glory of our dear mother, Hon. Justice (Mrs) Christiana Ijeoma Uche (Nee Ebbi of Okoko Item, Abia State).”
Aged 83 years, she is survived by her children, Chief Chris Uche, SAN, Dr. Rose Uche, Mr. Gordy Uche, SAN, Mr. John Uche, several grand children, great grandchildren, siblings, in-laws and a host of other relations.
The statement added that burial arrangements would be announced in due course by the family.
