Some senators on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday, May 15, took time to praise the deputy president of the Senate as he clocked 56 years old with some of them asking him to join the ruling party.
The senators including Ahmed Lawan, the leader of the upper legislative chamber, said Ekwermadu was needed in the APC and should know that there is an opportunity for him to get the ticket to contest for the presidential election in 2023 under the party if he makes up his mind.

The plea by Lawan drew laughter among some of the senators including Ekweremadu, who had not reacted at time of this report.
The senators also took the report of a committee on the 2018 budget.
We earlier reported that Ike Ekweremadu recently stated that it is not unlikely for the military to take over, as he noted that the nation’s democracy is receding.
Ekweremadu made his comment in reaction to a motion sponsored by Ahmed Ogembe, the senator representing Kogi Central.
Ogembe alleged that the Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, organized thugs to disrupt an empowerment programme for his constituents, which he had organized.
The deputy Senate president warned that Nigeria’s democracy must not be turned into a joke, as he cited various instances where federal lawmakers have been harassed.

We also reported that Ike Ekweremadu again revealed that politicians are currently flooding the country with arms ahead of the 2019 as he warned that the citizens have no other place to run to if Nigeria is destroyed.
