Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin (APC-Kano) has chided his colleagues in the lower legislative chamber, for accusing him of peddling falsehood.

The green chamber had on Wednesday, June 6, resolved to probe Jibrin’s comment on the ongoing rift between the executive and legislative arms of government.

Ujuayalogu'sBlog notes that following the joint session of the Assembly, Jibrin had led some lawmakers to kick against the planned impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The impeachment move was described by the lawmakers - under the auspices of Parliamentary Support Group – as a PDP affair. They also said it was not endorsed by all members of the National Assembly.

Following the comments, the House mandated its Committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate Jibrin.

In reaction, Jibrin apologised to the lawmakers for “spoiling their party,” adding that “we know it hurts”. He said his group was only concerned about the collective interest of Nigerians.

He stated, via his Twitter handle, @AbdulAbmJ:

If found guilty by the committee undertaking the probe, Jibrin risks being suspended.

Recall that We previously reported that the National Assembly on Tuesday, June 5, issued a warning to President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he must be held accountable for the actions of his appointees and must be ready to sanction those that carry out any act that will ridicule or endanger the country and democracy.

At the end of the session, Senate President Bukola Saraki announced that security agencies must be given marching orders to contain all the sustained killings of Nigerians and protect the lives and properties of Nigerians as this is the primary duty for any responsible government.
