PDP Gbosa! Was the chant in and around the National Assembly this morning when it became known that the executive had failed in its plan to illegally detain the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Senator Saraki who was asked to report to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police at 8am this morning was besieged to find officers laying siege at his home this morning.

At the same time the house of his Deputy Ike Ekweremadu was locked down by the Department of State Security Service, DSS and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

It meant that the Senate would have been unable to sit today had the Senate President not found a way to make it to the Upper Chamber this morning.

According to NASS Senate Sources the plan was to prevent sitting from taking place today, because “some people wanted to prevent people from decamping.”

Some say that it is another attempt to stop vocal lawmakers from talking about the impunity and corruption in the Presidency.

Despite the attempt to “intimidate” the lawmakers, 15 top senators openly decamped today.

Gbosa meaning punch is exactly a blow in the All Progressives Congress, APC which has gone from being the ruling party to minority party in the NASS Senate.

Ujuayalogu'sBlog News understands that the 15  top lawmakers decided to decamp from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following a heavy battle with President Muhammadu Buhari, who they have exposed to have broken the constitution by taking money without approval from the National Assembly.

Sources say many other lawmakers are planning to leave the APC in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Ujuayalogu'sBlog News understands that the Deputy Senate President is still under lock down in his home in Abuja.

The EFCC led by a “corrupt” officer called Ibrahim Mustafa Magu wrote a letter to Senator Ekweremadu on July 24, asking that he appears at their office at 10am on the same day.

Mr Magu, whose nomination was rejected by the National Assembly due to an indicting report from the Department of State Security Service, has been critised for wearing the re-election pin of President Muhammadu Buhari on television.

The officer, described as a “perennial offender” and a “liability” to corruption fight as also been accused of being partisan in the fight against graft.
