Soldiers attached to Bonny Camp of the Nigerian Army Apongbon, Lagos, today bruised and battered a young lawyer, Mr. Temitayo Igunnu to a pulp, handcuffed him and took him away to Bonny Camp where he is currently being detained.

There are fears over his life and safety, as the soldiers have denied him access to medical care to treat his injuries.

The young lawyer was driving to work when his car mirror was destroyed by a commercial bus driven by a naval rating.

As he alighted and complained to the rating about the damage done to his car, some soldiers who were said to be passing by in another vehicle descended on him and battered him.

They then handcuffed him and took him away in their vehicle to Bonny Camp, said eye witnesses.

A colleague, Hannah Alabi, who visited the young lawyer at Bonny Camp where he is being detained by the military authorities, said he has a swollen and serious bruises all over his body.

Please to allow him to get urgent medical attention fell on deaf ears, as the soldiers insisted that he would not be released until the naval rating returned to the Camp.
