Nigeria celebrates 60th Independence
As Nigeria celebrates 60th Independence day today, citizens of the country have taken to Twitter to express disappointment at the level the of the country's growth over the past years.
They complained about infrastructural decay, corruption, bad governance and crippling poverty which the citizens have been condemned to by their leaders.
Many complained that at 60, Nigeria has nothing worth celebrating. While lamenting, many users tackled President Muhammadu Buhari's government for bringing hardship on the masses in form of hike in petrol price, electricity tariff and many deductions that have made their accounts empty.
See tweets below:
After 60 years of independence, Nigeria can't boast of steady power supply, good roads, good health care system, Employment for all, good educational system & stable economy
The only stable thing about Nigeria is the Rhapsody of Reality from Christ Embassy#Nigeria60AndUseless

#NaijaLikeNeverBefore if all will rise to their responsibility of making Nigeria a better place, Ya'r Adua was at the verge of doing it until death took him away from us, can't Buhari do more than this? #NaijaLikeNeverBefore #NigeriaAt60 #Nigeria60AndUseless pic.twitter.com/EQ0X2bxKVS

Yes at 60 we still wallow in dirtiness & abject poverty
Yes at 60 we can't boast of anything to call our own, we still depend on others for our survival
Yes at 60 we seems to be comfortable in our predicament and even dining in it..

At sixty Nigeria is d poverty capital of the world. At sixty Nigeria is home to d world's most dreaded terrorist groups and cells. At sixty Nigeria is governed by a gang of vision less retrogrades who have made the country unsafe. #Nigeria60AndUseless pic.twitter.com/QoxtjiOM0h

Minimum wage is Saudi Arabia is N305,000. Minimum wages in Nigeria is N30,000 yet you want to compare the fuel price in Nigeria to Saudi Arabia. These people are just taking us for fools. #October1stProtest #Nigeria60AndUseless

60 years of Corruption and failed Governance.
60 years of crippling economy and declining democracy.
60 years of continues reliance on Oil and ethno-religious disunity.
This is the Nigeria we're celebrating today but surely not the one Nigerians deserve.#Nigeria60AndUseless pic.twitter.com/zn92Mj0neA

She's 60 but still crawling, can't provide for her people.
This is a time of sober reflection and not a time to celebrate.
Where did we get it wrong? 😥#NigeriaAt60 #Nigeria60AndUseless pic.twitter.com/9f1s3Cm8Ly
