Tosin Bee
Oluwatosin Adejumobi, the budding Nigerian singer, who is also known as Tosin Bee, has revealed that things were quite tough when he started his music career.
Tosin Bee, who recently released a new single titled Soromidayo, and is currently working on his second album, noted that he had to be dedicated and focused to rise to the height he presently occupies.
He told Sunday Scoop, “I started music professionally in 2013, though I had been doing music since I was about seven years old. I later joined my church choir. And from there, I joined an interdenominational choir, in which we used to go around Ilorin (where I lived then) to minister at churches and events. After some time, I teamed up with two friends to form a group called ‘The Ruts’ and we toured the region before suspending the group to face personal pursuits. I then moved to Ogun State to attend university. While in school, I joined the Redeemed Christian Fellowship and rose to the level of a music director. After my university education, I came to Lagos. I had no family in the state, except few friends. I recall that I used to sleep in a church for a long time. To eat was also an issue because there was no money. Most times, I only ate noodles once a day. The major challenge I faced was finance and that is always the issue with most creatives.”
Speaking on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on his career, the singer said, “It has really not been easy. It suddenly changed the dynamics of how we operate as it relates to our daily activities. A lot of adjustments had to be made in order for one to remain relevant. It brought total disruption, but I thank God for the grace to rise up to the challenge.”
Adejumobi also noted that his strengths as a gospel singer are the grace of God, versatility, creativity, and working with the best team, which he calls ‘Beezlenation’.
Reeling out his sources of inspiration, the talented singer said, “The most important source of inspiration is the God factor, through the help of the Holy Spirit. Also, the environment helps, especially the situations in which one finds oneself. My personal experiences and that of other people inspire me as well.
“I have had quite a number of highlights in my career too, especially my international engagements and they inspire me too.”
