He fell on iron rod, pierced his chest – Suspected killer of school prefect tells Police

Saka Ahmed, the 19-year-old Senior Secondary School, SSS 2 student of Gaskia College, Amukoko, Lagos, who allegedly stabbed his school labour prefect, Saheed Jimoh, to death has denied that he stabbed the deceased student.

DAILY POST recalls that Ejo, as he is fondly called, was on November 5, arrested by policemen attached to Amukoko Division, in his hideout somewhere around the school’s vicinity, at about 6.40p.m.

The suspect’s father and six other students, who were initially arrested, were later released.

However, following Ejo’s statement, he said: “I pushed Jimoh; I didn’t stab him.

“Jimoh fell on an iron rod, which pierced his chest.”

The suspect also said one of Jimoh’s classmates, Ibrahim, was a witness to the whole incident. But it was gathered that the said Ibrahim, who had also been arrested by the police, denied witnessing the incident.

Meanwhile, reports claim the said iron rod was bent downward.

The suspect said, “In the morning, I went to where Jimoh and Ibrahim were and told them that the physics teacher was coming; they were startled and made attempts to move. I then told them that I was only joking.

“Later, I started chasing him. When I caught him, I pushed him down, I didn’t stab him. Unfortunately, when I pushed him, he fell on an iron which pierced his chest.

“After the incident, I ran away from the school. I was on my way to my father’s shop when I heard that the police were searching for me, so I had to run. I spent the night under the bridge before the police arrested me on Thursday evening,” Ejo added.

In his defence, Ibrahim, who said he was in the class, however confessed to having witnessed when the deceased was being chased, but denied being privy to the main incident that led to his death.

According to him, “I was with Jimoh when Ejo played a joke on us, then I immediately left for class, while Ejo ran after Jimoh.

“I was in the class when someone informed us that Jimoh had been stabbed. I don’t know why Ejo said I was there. I am innocent,” Ibrahim added.

DAILY POST learnt that the case would be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, for further investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding Jimoh’s death.
