PDP Leadership Crises: Sheriff should be allowed into Secretariat – Supporters tell IGP Arase

A civil Society Group, Guardian of Democracy, on Monday gave the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, 90 minutes to release the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party or face the consequences.

Convener of the group, Solomon Adodo, made the demand while addressing reporters at the National Secretariat of the party.

According to Solomon, it was gathered that Sheriff reported at the IGP’s office at the Lius Edet house after he was denied access to the party’s secretariat early Monday morning.

Solomon said, “We are giving the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase 90 minutes to release the true and authentic Chairman of the PDP.

“We gathered that he reported to IG’s office at the Louis Edet house after security operatives refused him entrance into the party’s secratriat.”

He said the organisation was demanding that the right thing be done which is to allow Sheriff access to the Secretariat as he is the “the only true, legitimate, and singular Chairman of the party.”

“Guardian for Democracy is non partisan and as such we are here to ensure that democracy is not stampeded or truncated.”

Noting that without credible opposition, the ruling party will go to sleep, Solomon said Sheriff should be given his mandate and the gates of the secretariat be opened to allow the embattled leader access to his office.
