- Maxi Okwu said Obasanjo is a member of the trioka of evil plaguing Nigeria while Acting President Osinbajo should be commended

- He said he would observe the sit-at-home order by IPOB while daring the security agencies to beat him up for doing so

The seat-at-home order for May 30 by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is gaining momentum as Maxi Okwu, a top Igbo elder, says he would take part in it.

Okwu, a former national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), also thanked Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for speaking out the truth at a recent celebration in Abuja to mark the 50th anniversary of the Biafran war.

The Igbo elder further condemned the way former President Olusegun Obasanjo spoke at the event stressing that the retired military general is one of the major problems plaguing Nigeria.

“I dare the security agencies to come and beat me for observing in quiet contemplative prayers the memories of Biafran heroes,” he said.

“Love or hate Nnamdi Kanu the man is the issue of the moment. His house in Umuahia seems to have become the new Onuiyi haven of the late 70's,” he added.

Concerning the event that happened in celebration of Biafra on Thursday, May 26 in Abuja, Okwu said: “The concession that citizens are entitled to discuss their status and union is a most welcome development coming from the acting president.

“I do not think that PMB will agree with him on that. Mercifully he is on medical tourism and we can forge ahead.”

While praising Nnia Nwodo, the president-general of Ohaneze, Okwu said: “So far, he has made the right noises.

“We must condemn OBJ who characteristically has reduced a very grave and serious national matter to sharing of cake.

“It should now be clear to all that until the trioka of evil of which OBJ is one leaves us alone, this nation will know no peace.

“Once again kudos to Nnamdi who has brought the Biafran question to center stage and mainstream. It is no longer a shameful or dirty B word.

“Now we wait to exhale with the mother of all 50th anniversaries on 30th May. I shall stay put indoors in my house with my family,” he said.

At the event in Abuja, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo made a dispassionate call for the nation to stay united, despite the renewed agitation for a breakup and the creation of an independent state of Biafra as led by the likes of Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the protests by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

Osinbajo said Nigerians should think more of what unites them than what separates them.

He said: “The truth is that many, if not most nations of the world are made up of different peoples and cultures and beliefs and religions, who find themselves thrown together by circumstance."
