He said: “The NWC is expected to liaise with all the 37 state caretaker chairmen to ensure the immediate commencement of electronic membership registration so as to provide an authentic register for the elective national convention.

“Time is running out on our dear party and we must rise without further delay to make the best of the little time left."

Nwosu expressed confidence that Nigerians will prefer the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 but that the PDP in question “will certainly not be the same old PDP, which is fraught with impunity and imposition."

He said the New PDP was ready to work with Obasanjo’s coalition and that it “will certainly turn out to be the much-needed pivot for the proposed coalition."

The interim national chairman said the faction needs a clear cut action “that will show us as a rebranded party; devoid of all the negativities which Chief Obasanjo very rightly captured in his last letter.”

Meanwhile, the Olusegun Obasanjo’s Coalition for Nigeria (CN) movement on Thursday, February 2, began in Akure, Ondo state.

Premium Times reports that the meeting had in attendance present and former members of both the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Notable party members of the PDP and APC who were at the meeting include the coalition’s state coordinator, Demola Ijabiyi; former deputy speaker of the state house of assembly, Oluwarotimi Akintoye; Dare Emiola, former PDP state chairmen, Ebenezer Alabi, Biyi Poroye, Dare Bada, Sunday Menukuro and Kehinde Alabi.
