The Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwunsi has been in the news of late for planning to get married to another olori.
This is necessary since he has been officially divorced from his previous wife former Wuraola Ogunwusi (now Zaynab-Otiti Obanor) whom he married shortly after attaining the throne.
The union was only able to last 17 months before finally hitting the rock in August 2017. The family of Zaynb were said to have returned the bride price the Ooni paid on her so that she can be free to marry another person.

In a recent rumour, the first class Yoruba monarch is said to be ready to pick a new wife since he cannot live alone for the rest of his life. Speculations were rife the young king is linked to Temitope Adesegun, the co-convener of Hope Alive. It was also rumoured that they have been secretly married.
Before the rumour will travel too far, the palace has reacted and has put the record straight on the position of the king on a new wife. Addressing the rumour, Jide Fadairo, a prince and CEO, House of Oduduwa Foundation, said in a statement made available to journalists that:
“Ooni’s marriage cannot be done secretly. It involves not only the royal family, it involves Yoruba custom and a lot of elders and our tradition are to be taken into cognisance. Please dismiss the story, it is another fake news.”
Speaking further, Fadairo said the monarch is engrossed with the renaissance of Yoruba culture and promotion of the race’s customs and traditions globally.

Fadairo who is also a husband of the monarch’s elder sister Princess Folasade revealed that Ooni Ogunwusi will not rush into taking a new wife.
“That’s not on His Imperial Majesty’s mind. Marriage is not something he wants to do right away. Many names have been bandied around but I can tell you they are all false, just like this case.”
