He replaced them with the Nigerian Army. However, in 2017, when President Muhammadu Buhari was in London on a medical vaction, the DSS operatives were restored. Security sources note that General Monguno (rtd) must have felt undermined!
Those in the president’s inner circle knew the 61-year-old NSA chief must have been livid with the reinstatement of DSS operative and removal of his boys from Villa.
A Government source explained that General Monguno on discovering that his boys had been removed from Villa made alternative plans for them.
He redeployed some of those Army officers to the Defense Military Intelligence, where he was a former Chief of Defence Intelligence. He was now scheming a plan to get back at Lawal Daura, erstwhile DSS Boss.
To make things worse LAWAL DAURA, a patriotic INTEL chief discovered that a rtd air commodore, Umar Mohammed, who was arrested by the DSS for money laundering, was using documents obtained from Ibrahim Mustafa MAGU, ( known ally of NSA Chief) the acting chairman the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to blackmail suspects.
Similarly in 2008, Mr Magu was suspended from the anti-graft Commission by the then Chief Executive Officer, Farida Waziri for “illegally” taking document out of the office.
The DSS who described Mr Magu as a perennial offender were able to get a confessional statement from the arrested air commodore.
Apparently, Mr Mohammed, rtd, was fronting for Mr MAGU and the NSA chief.
DENISAURUS News also gathered then that one Abubakar Sadiq who operates INKIYA Bureau De Change served as front for all three (Monguno, Mohammed and Magu).

This paper learnt that the Director General of the DSS kept trailing all of them. He used information gathered from the arrested commodore, Mohammed, EFCC staff and other links to write damning dossier against EFCC’s MAGU which prevented his confirmation.
General Monguno, rtd and the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who are allies of Mr Magu. were super vexed!
The NSA chief was all the more desperate to get Mr DAURA, though not relative – but close member of Mamman Daura’s (President Muhammadu Buhari’s older nephew) circle of friends.
General Monguno, who had recommended for the retirement of General S D Aliyu, the Defence Attaché in China for his refusal to be a corruption conduit of money laundry, schemed with the faction in government loyal to them on what to do next with LAWAL DAURA.

And that opportunity finally came when President Muhammadu Buhari was away from the country. A case of a siege at the National Assembly was plotted.

A party chieftain, also within the same cabal faction as the VP, Monguno and MAGU revealed at the rally in Akwa Ibom yesterday, that a plan to impeach President Buhari was being plotted by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Senator.
His statement similar to the one of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, which had also stated that the DSS were there to prevent the PDP who were there to “foment violence.”
Impliedly this means that their faction ordered the to siege of NASS Assembly by security operatives.

Even though there were police presence, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, was not queried.
Instead, DENISAURUS News understands that the head of internal security in Nigeria was asked to immediately hand over to the next in line.
