Lagos APC Crisis: Ambode Meets Tinubu In Abuja, President Buhari Intervenes

Lagos APC Crisis: Ambode Meets Tinubu In Abuja, President Buhari Intervenes

The Eagle Online was told that the meeting, held on Friday afternoon, was “fruitful”.

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Friday met with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his Abuja home, The Eagle Online is reporting.

The meeting, held on Friday afternoon, was “fruitful”.

However, it was also learnt that more meetings “are required to smoothen out all the rough edges, especially the issue of trust going forward”.

President Muhammadu Buhari has offered to intervene in the crisis rocking the Lagos State chapter of the APC and this would be done before the end of the weekend, which is between now and Sunday (tomorrow).

The crisis of confidence between Tinubu and Ambode came to the fore last week when two other persons bought the Governorship Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to unseat Ambode in the 2019 elections.

These were Jide Sanwoolu and Femi Hamzat, both allies of Tinubu.

However, the appearance of some local government chairmen in the state and members of the Mandate Group, led by Tinubu, at the declaration of Sanwoolu created the impression that the former Governor of Lagos State was backing his candidature.

Tinubu and Ambode were said to have fallen out over the alleged failure of the governor to ensure the welfare of members of the party.

One of the bones of contention, The Eagle Online learnt, was the introduction of a new outfit for refuse disposal in the state, Visionscape.

The Private Sector Participation handlers of waste disposal in the state before Visionscape came in were said to be largely party members who have been denied their source of livelihood.

The other means of reaching out to the party members was said to have been through road contracts.
But Ambode was also accused of giving this to other companies.

The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, The Eagle Online was told, is also said to be interested in the resolution of the crisis.
