The United Kingdom High Commission in Nigeria has shut down.
The High Commission while shutting down on Wednesday, said it will stop operation for the next 48 hours.
The decision, according to the Commission, was taken following the ongoing nationwide protest in the country.
It also closed its TLS contact visa application centres in the country.
The UK High Commission, up till now, has not spoken about last night’s attacks on defenseless protesters in Lekki, Lagos State.
In a brief statement via its official Twitter, handle, @UKinNigeria, the Commission advised applicants with appointments for Wednesday and Thursday, to reschedule.
The statement reads: “Due to the ongoing protest in Nigeria and for the safety of both staff and applicants, our Nigeria centres will be closed for 48 hours at a minimum.
“For applicants with booked appointments within this period, please you will need to reschedule your appointment for next week, from 26th October 2020.
It promised to continue providing regular updates on its Twitter page, adding that, “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
