Saraki has become a symbol for defense of democracy - Ex presidential aide declares - Okupe

Doyin Okupe, an ex-aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the travails of Senate President Bukola Saraki, following his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In an interview with Tribune, Okupe said Saraki has become a symbol of the nation’s democracy.

Ujuayalogu'sBlog gathers that he said: "Bukola Saraki inadvertently has become a symbol for the defense of democracy. In recent time he has become the defender of democracy.

Because if an attempt is made to subvert democracy instead of keeping quiet, the courageous man steps forward all the time to resist the subversion of our democracy.

"He could have recapitulated cowardly and allowed anything to go by, setting up bad precedence. Instead, he stepped out, he stood firm, he resisted anti-democratic forces. I see him now as the defender of our democracy."

Meanwhile, Ujuayalogu'sBlog previously reported that Doyin Okupe declared that it would be very difficult to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki, following his defection from the All Progressives Congress.

Okupe also wondered why Nigerians treat political defections as strange; when in actual fact, it happens all over the world.
